According to a new poll, Democrats potentially have a more substantial chance at winning in 2024 should President Joe Biden step aside for a younger successor, and that is not welcome news to the Biden family, and that is no surprise to anyone- even to people who don’t much attention to politics.
News reports about the new poll show that the Democrat’s answer to their problems with Joe Biden and choosing other candidates are going to rely upon their use of Identity politics- and that concept is taking a beating already- very early in this campaign season.
The topic of how Democrats use race in the wrong ways-went mainstream last week when legendary rapper, Ice Cube, talked about how Democrats have misled the American people with their concepts of how to use race in elections.
Ice Cube appeared with Tucker Carlson in an interview that went viral:
“Politicians have hidden agendas. They owe a lot of people a lot of favors. The more money you give them, the more you’re listened to.”

News outlets picked up the new polling and showed big trouble for the Dems:
The survey, published by The New York Times in partnership with Siena College, was released on Tuesday. It found low numbers of enthusiasm among Democrats for the re-nomination of either Biden or a potential decision by the president against running for reelection in favor of endorsing his vice president, Kamala Harris, to run in his stead.
“But the Harris option was more popular among members of the president’s party by six percentage points, indicating that Democrats’ primary concern with the Biden brand is the stamina of the candidate himself. There’s a catch, however — the percentage of Democratic primary voters who were unsure about how they would feel about their party’s nominee jumped slightly were Harris took the reins, and as a result the total percentage of primary voters who were at the very least “satisfied” with their party’s pick was actually lower with Harris at the top of the ticket.”
It was a confounding poll result that reveals one fact clearly: Democratic voters are deeply unsure about who they want to be their party’s standard-bearer should the incumbent president be sidelined for any reason. And separately, the poll found concerns about age outweighed any other complaint levied against Biden by primary voters by an almost 2-to-1 margin.:
Enthusiasm among primary voters is an important factor for candidates involved in especially close races — or, conversely, can be seen as the reason those races are close to begin with. Biden is thought to be headed for a close reelection fight as voters sour on the idea of re-electing someone who was already the oldest individual to ever take the oath of office of president, even as his likely opponent is battered by escalating legal troubles.
Then again, what have Democrats had to get excited about?
Hillary Clinton’s inability to stoke enthusiasm for her campaign after her defeat of Bernie Sanders in the 2016 Democratic primary was viewed as a significant factor leading to her eventual loss to Trump that year.
Trump, on the other hand, is gaining with minority voters, is exciting, and is good with the demographic of White Working class Americans, according to media reports, even finding consensus with people who believe that racism against White people is a significant problem:

“Democrats have lost a lot of ground, for a number of reasons, with those white working-class voters in recent years. In fact, that was one of the driving factors behind Trump’s victory in 2016,” journalist Mike LaChance wrote recently, adding more about his point of view:
Now Democrats have a new plan to win these voters back by pushing the same divisive ‘race and equity’ nonsense that drove many of these voters away in the first place.
How exactly is this supposed to work? LaChance cited a recent report to get to the answer:
Politico reports:
Dems launch a new effort to shore up white voters — by leaning into race
A new Democratic-aligned initiative — dubbed the White Stripe Project — has a novel idea for winning white working class voters back to the Democratic Party: lean more into talk of equity and race.
Organizers say traditional methods in wooing white voters are ineffective, often relying on knee-jerk recommendations from an elite group of Democrats that pushes a race-neutral economic message. White Stripe organizers say this approach is misguided. They are calling for a more targeted and data-driven approach that they argue will be a better return on investment.
The project has plans to build a robust infrastructure to attract white voters who are open to Democratic messaging but who are less likely to vote. Once identified, organizers are betting with targeted messaging and pinpoint engagement that enough of these voters will show up for the party at the ballot box.
“White voters have disproportionate political power,” Erin Heaney, Executive Director of Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ) told organizers during the Monday afternoon launch of the project. “We need a strategy for engaging and organizing them alongside communities of color.”
